...combine to make the events we throw like no other in Mal Pais and Santa Teresa. Sit outside and casually lounge with a cocktail or squeeze yourself inside into the dancefloor as resident DJ Steven and other guest DJs spin at full blast.

Ok, ok... so it's not exactly what you expected... but you will have to admit that the spontaneity of Artemis is almost addictive. At any moment things shift... and always for the better!

And now as of May 2011 we joined forces with Santa Teresa community based radio station purasonica.com and San Jose based Laboratorio de DJs on a mission to explore and seek out new Costa Rican talent to tear it up live @ Artemis, while giving them a platform to show off what they got!

Guess all those artists that play in bands were right after all! The future of music is in their hands!

And not(!!) the stupid music conglomerates... "go ahead. Keep pissing us off, and we’ll just see how much money you make when the next “big star” fails to earn you anything because no one wants to pay $20 for a CD or the higher prices for digital downloads."

Now that we got that off our chest, bands that come play here pretty much run the show, so we just point out where to set up and they take it from there...

COSTA RICA’S CIRCUITO NACIONAL DE SURF TORNEO PLAYA CARMEN

Playa Carmen has become a regular stop on the local tour.

Artemis Cafe has been one of the local sponsors of the event. Giving all competitiors a place to sign up for the event... as well as hooking up the entire staff of judges and contest organizers with excellent food and coffee during their stay here in Mal Pais for three consecutive years (2007-2010). The event pulls in top pros and amateurs from all over the country. Each year we've had some of the local talent enter the event and inflict some damage.

Congrats to local boy-rippa' Anthony Abarca 2nd place overall in Junior Mens division 2010!
