Broadband Wifi Cafe in Mal PaisBefore Artemis Cafe was open there was hands down no public place in Mal Pais or Santa Teresa with wireless internet access. The only way to go online was going to an Internet cafe and using one of their computers or having your laptop physically connected to their network via Ethernet. Artemis had to be WiFi... it had to be free and it had to be broadband. Our first modem was ISDN...(so much for broadband) old school technology that at best connects at 128 kbps. What a task to get it to communicate with the router... it wasn't until a South African by the name of Marty sat in the office for a few hours, drinking several Americanos to get the job done. Bam!! First WiFi hotspot in both Santa Teresa and Mal Pais. While Marty has moved on to bigger and funner stuff like Panty Raid music production and founder of The Manifesto Gathering ... so have we at the cafe moved up the bandwidth ladder. Today we rely on two different ISPs to ensure maximum uptime to keep all you WiFi coffee loungers connected to the datasphere. |

| Free WiFi is great, but looking for wall plugs sucks?!? There's a bunch of wall plugs inside the cafe, and several plugs available for the tables in the courtyard. | ![]() |
